Fashion Afrique African Drumming
& Ballet Ensemble




Fashion Afrique African Drumming & Ballet Ensemble is a part of the Cultural Program of Fashion Afrique, promoters of sustainable "fair trade" African products, directly benefiting the villagers. The Drumming Program began in early 2007 as a platform for cultural expressions and as an addition to the new cultural vibrancy of Downtown Springfield. It is composed of seniors, adults and children.

Since its inception, the Ensemble has undertaking many performances in the community and has facilitated many training programs in our local schools. For the last two years the Ensemble has conducted extensive workshops at the Washington Middle School, Springfield, performed for the Girls Scout of Rochester, performed in the twilight parade of the Illinois State Fair and is booked for a three day performance during the Decatur International Street Festival in August 08.

The Ensemble possesses a vast repertoire of African, Afro-Cuban, and World Drumming rhythm appropriate for any occasion.
